A Plan to Fix The United States

There are two parts of my plan to fix all the problems in the United States.

Part 1: Outlaw the Republican Party

The first part of the plan is to make the Republican Party illegal. All elected officials from the Republican Party will be removed from office and replaced by Democrats. They will be forbidden to run for office ever again.

All federal judges appointed by Republican presidents will be removed from their positions. The new president will appoint new judges to replace the ones who were removed.

Part 2: Trump Voters Lose Their Voting Rights

Anyone who voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election is not allowed to ever vote in another election. It might be harsh. You might think it’s undemocratic and unconstitutional. But as we all know, anyone who voted for Trump is a Nazi, and Nazis have no rights. Banning Trump supporters from voting is a small price to pay to improve society.

Paradise Ensues

After removing all Republicans from the government, everything will magically improve in the United States. The wars will end. Habeas corpus will be restored. The government will stop reading emails and listening in on our phone calls. The environment will be cleaned up. Homelessness and poverty will go away. Every person will have access to health care. The educational system will get better. People will stop shooting each other. Racism will go away. We’ll be living in heaven on earth.

How could anyone oppose this? Only Nazis could be opposed to this wonderful program.

Contact Your Representatives

Contact your congressional representatives by snail mail, phone, and email. Tell them to support this plan to fix the United States.

American Criminal Justice Exceptionalism

Americans’ views on guilt or innocence in criminal cases depend on the country where the arrest occurs. If an American is arrested in the United States, most Americans assume the person is guilty of the crime. However, if an American is arrested in another country, most Americans assume the person was falsely accused of the crime.

Why Evangelical Christians Support Trump

They’re Republicans. He’s a Republican. That’s it.

Partisan Democrats can’t grasp that party affiliation matters more than anything. They can’t grasp that Republican voters are going to vote for Republicans. The fact that Trump’s been married multiple times and has a sex life most Christians would consider sinful doesn’t mean evangelical Christians are going to start voting for Democrats.

The evangelical Christians aren’t being hypocrites and aren’t behaving any differently than partisan Democrats. Would partisan Democrats start voting for Republicans because a Democratic politician did something they didn’t like? Of course not. The fact the politician did something they didn’t like doesn’t mean partisan Democrats like what Republicans stand for. In much the same way, Trump’s sexual behavior doesn’t mean evangelical Christians are going to magically embrace what the Democratic Party stands for.

A Solution to the School Shootings Crisis

The news media should stop covering school shootings.

If the news media stops covering school shootings, people will think school shootings have stopped happening. Problem solved.

You might be thinking that if someone shoots a bunch of people in a school and the news media doesn’t talk about it, the shooting still occurred. You’re right, but a good chunk of the population in the United States doesn’t believe something happened unless the news media tells them it happened.

I will give you two examples that involve shootings. The first is police shooting unarmed people. Many Americans think the police shoot only unarmed African-Americans because those are the only shootings the news media covers. If you tell these people the police also shoot unarmed white people, they’ll think you’re crazy.

The second example is armed people stopping crimes. Many Americans think armed people don’t stop attempted crimes because the news media doesn’t talk about them.

It’s scary that people place this kind of trust in the news media.

Down to 170 Countries

I was watching a basketball game yesterday, and the announcer said the game was being shown on the American Forces Network for military personnel in 170 countries.

You might think the American military being in 170 countries is disturbing, but we’re making progress. Nine years the American military was in 177 countries. Baby steps.

Fluff, Propaganda, and Partisan Shills

The title of this post is what you get when you watch American television news. Local news is mostly fluff. Network news is a combination of fluff and propaganda. Cable news adds partisan shills to the mix because they have more air time to fill.

Where's the Trump Resistance?

When Trump became President, angry Democrats vowed to resist him and his policies. As part of this resistance, Meetup groups popped up with the name #Resist: and the name of a city. You can find one of these group near you by browsing the Movements section of Meetup. I’m going to go review what the largest group near me, #Resist: Cleveland did in 2017.

Let’s tally what the group did: two marches, a trip to the statehouse, wearing pink, and some letter writing campaigns. They did nothing the second half of the year. If this is resistance, the Trump Administration has nothing to fear.
