Why Evangelical Christians Support Trump

They’re Republicans. He’s a Republican. That’s it.

Partisan Democrats can’t grasp that party affiliation matters more than anything. They can’t grasp that Republican voters are going to vote for Republicans. The fact that Trump’s been married multiple times and has a sex life most Christians would consider sinful doesn’t mean evangelical Christians are going to start voting for Democrats.

The evangelical Christians aren’t being hypocrites and aren’t behaving any differently than partisan Democrats. Would partisan Democrats start voting for Republicans because a Democratic politician did something they didn’t like? Of course not. The fact the politician did something they didn’t like doesn’t mean partisan Democrats like what Republicans stand for. In much the same way, Trump’s sexual behavior doesn’t mean evangelical Christians are going to magically embrace what the Democratic Party stands for.
